Arrival in Maun
Welcome to Maun, the vibrant gateway to the Okavango Delta! Upon arrival at a cozy lodge on the Thamalakane River, you'll immediately feel the warm atmosphere of this African town. Enjoy the soothing sounds of nature and spot some early bird species, such as the impressive African Fish Eagle. It’s the perfect start to our adventure as we prepare to explore the wild heart of Botswana.Moremi Game Reserve (Third Bridge)
Eager and refreshed, we set off early in the morning for our first destination in the Moremi Game Reserve, where our camp awaits us. The diverse landscape, from dense Mopane forests to vast floodplains, offers breathtaking views. We’ll embark on game drives to spot elephants, buffalo, and possibly elusive leopards, with graceful giraffes adding to the spectacle. I, Ananda Geissberger, am excited to share my passion for the wilderness with you, offering insights into animal behavior and the secrets of this region.Moremi Game Reserve (Xakanaxa)
Today, we move on to Xakanaxa. In addition to exciting game drives, we’ll enjoy a boat tour through the picturesque lagoons and channels of the area. Discover the impressive birdlife, including the elegant African Jacana, Lesser Jacana, and the vibrant Malachite Kingfisher. As we glide through the water, we might also see hippos and, with a bit of luck, the rare Sitatunga antelope. This boat ride offers a unique perspective on the Okavango Delta, a one-of-a-kind inland delta hosting incredible plant and animal diversity.Khwai Community Area
Our adventure continues to the Khwai Community Area, where we’ll spend three nights in a remote camp. Equipped with a specially designed safari cruiser with a popup roof and large open windows, we’re well-prepared for wildlife viewing. Our comfortable rooftop tent or spacious tent ensures a pleasant stay. In Khwai, we'll encounter breathtaking wildlife, including lions, leopards, and even rare wild dogs. The diverse habitats also offer excellent birdwatching opportunities. We’ll experience the unspoiled beauty of the delta and the dedicated efforts of the local community working to preserve this unique environment.Savuti (Chobe National Park)
Our journey takes us to Savuti in Chobe National Park. The Savuti Marsh, once a vast lake, is now a hotspot for huge herds of elephants, buffaloes, wildebeests, and zebras—often all at the same spot. As we traverse this dramatic landscape, we have the chance to see predators like cheetahs and hyenas in their natural habitat. Giraffes are also commonly spotted here. The birdlife is impressive, featuring notable species such as the Kori Bustard and the elegant Secretarybird.Return to Maun
After our final morning in Khwai, we head back to a small lodge just outside Maun for three more nights (without me). Here, you can relax and reflect on your experiences. Optional activities include a scenic flight over the Okavango Delta to admire the majestic landscape from above. This is the perfect chance to review your journey and say goodbye to this unique place.WhatsApp Me
