Climate & Weather

At the end of February, Kruger National Park offers a vibrant and lush landscape. The weather is warm to hot, with daytime temperatures ranging from about 27°C to 34°C and mild nights around 20°C. The sporadic rainfall is usually in the form of short, refreshing showers that turn the landscape a brilliant green. This time of year brings exceptional vegetation and well-filled waterholes, providing ample wildlife viewing opportunities. The warm, humid weather and lush vegetation promote high animal activity, with many species taking advantage of the abundant food supply. Additionally, many migratory birds visit during this time—Kruger National Park in South Africa is home to over 500 different bird species.
