On our adventure through northern Namibia, we will be guests in the land of the Himba and Damara, two of the country’s oldest and proudest peoples. The Himba are known for their traditional red body paint and semi-nomadic lifestyle, while the Damara have a rich cultural history and deep connections to the region. It is of utmost importance to me that we treat these people with the greatest respect, being fully aware that we are entering their world. Therefore, our interactions are always conducted in close consultation with the communities themselves to ensure that we experience their traditions and ways of life authentically and ethically. Through this responsible approach, especially regarding photography, we can not only honor their fascinating culture but also contribute to preserving their valuable traditions.
